Notifications can contain sensitive personal conversations, emails, and alerts. NotifReader implements a secure, local-only architecture:

  • 100% Local Text-To-Speech: The incoming notification text messages, titles, and details are read aloud using your device's built-in Android Text-To-Speech (TTS) engine. All voice processing is handled locally on the CPU.
  • Zero Remote Collection: We do NOT log, upload, inspect, compile, or transmit your notifications, chat histories, text contents, or sender details to any external server.
  • No Profiles Required: The application does not utilize user registration systems or personal accounts.

2. Device Permissions Required

NotifReader requests specialized permissions to access system alerts:

  • Notification Listener Access (NotificationListenerService): Android permission required to monitor incoming alerts and messages in order to read them aloud. This permission is processed purely locally.
  • Bluetooth Connection Permissions: Used if you configure NotifReader to only read notifications aloud when your phone is connected to hands-free car audio systems or earphones.

3. Third-Party Services & Diagnostics

We integrate minimal standard diagnostic libraries:

  • AdMob Advertising: May deliver non-personalized or personalized ads. AdMob utilizes device indicators for click-rate and monetization metrics.
  • Crash Analytics: Lightweight error tracing captures system crash dump stack traces to push stability updates. These trace reports contain zero notification logs, text contents, or contact names.

4. Data Retention & Deletion

Because NotifReader works locally, there is no remote database to delete:

  • Your selected app lists, quiet schedules, and custom speech options are stored locally. Clearing cache files in Android settings or uninstalling NotifReader purges all local selections.
